The MattyO Show vs Scottie Week 2

Many have asked me why I didn’t add my thoughts like Matty O did under his picks last week.  To tell you the truth, I don’t need to comment on any of my picks because I just win.  Just win baby.  This was evident by my 10-6 record compared to Matty’s woeful 7-9 showing.  (From this point forward any comments made in this writing by Matty will be made in italics.  Now on to the picks for Week 2 of the NFL Season:  Who ya got?

I ended up getting smoked last week by Scotty.  I have no idea how it happened, but I’m back with vengeance.

Cardinals @ Falcons

Scottie: Falcons

Matty: Falcons

Matt’s thoughts: Time for Matt Ryan (my fantasy football quarterback, who my season hinges on) to show us why he is the next great quarterback in this league by picking apart a questionable Arizona defense.

Ravens @ Bengals

Scottie: Ravens

Matty: Bengals

Matt’s thoughts: I’m expecting a bit of a letdown for the Ravens after that emotional rush in New York, not to mention the fact that Cincinnati went undefeated against the AFC North last season.

Chiefs @ Browns

Scottie: Chiefs

Matty: Chiefs

Matt’s thoughts: The Chiefs have some players that are electric, but relying on your special teams for points is a risky strategy.  Expect Matt Cassel and Jamaal Charles to step up to fill the offensive void.

Bears @ Cowboys

Scottie: Cowboys

Matty: Cowboys

Matt’s thoughts: The ‘Boys will be eager to improve on that dismal performance from last week’s 13-7 loss against the Redskins.

Eagles @ Lions

Scottie: Eagles

Matty: Eagles

Matt’s thoughts: Stafford’s injury cripples the development Detroit was looking for in the 2010 season.  All eyes will be on Mike Vick as he will lead an injury stricken squad past the Lions.

Bills @ Packers

Scottie: Packers

Matty: Packers

Matt’s thoughts: Looks like the making of a blowout here, which is great considering Packers constitute about half of my fantasy team.

Steelers @ Titans

Scottie: Titans

Matty: Steelers

Matt’s thoughts: The Steelers’ defense stifled a pretty potent Falcons offense, it’s gonna get ugly for the Titans down in Tennessee.

Dolphins @ Vikings

Scottie: Vikings

Matty: Vikings

Matt’s thoughts: As much as I was to go with Miami, I think that Brett Favre bounces back against the Dolphins.

Buccaneers @ Panthers

Scottie: Panthers

Matty: Panthers

Matt’s thoughts: The Panthers two-headed run game (which Jonathan Stewart has yet to participate in) will be too much for Tampa’s defense to handle.

Seahawks @ Broncos

Scottie: Seahawks

Matty: Broncos

Matt’s thoughts: The Broncos will look to avenge a loss to the Jaguars last week, and the Seahawks come back down to Earth after a shocking performance against the San Francisco Singletary’s.

Rams @ Raiders

Scottie: Rams

Matty: Raiders

Matt’s thoughts: With the return of Michael Bush, the Raiders will run, run, run, throw in a play action pass, and then run again on the Rams’ defense.

Patriots @ Jets

Scottie: Patriots

Matty: Patriots

Matt’s thoughts: Too much turmoil in New York and too many weapons for the Patriots lead to a New England 2-0 start.

Jaguars @ Chargers

Scottie: Chargers

Matty: Chargers

Matt’s thoughts: A loss to the Cheifs was not the way that San Diego wanted to start the season, they’ll look to rebound against the Jaguars.

Texans @ Redskins

Scottie: Texans

Matty: Texans

Matt’s thoughts: The ‘Skins defense looked great against Dallas, but Schaub wakes up and Houston gets the victory.

Giants @ Colts

Scottie: Colts

Matty: Giants

Matt’s thoughts: The best way to get Peyton off of his game is by putting him on the ground, and the Giants may be the team most equipped to do that.

Saints @ 49ers

Scottie: Saints

Matty: 49ers

Matt’s thoughts: The Saints didn’t look that great against the Vikings.  Mike Singletary finds the rat within the organization, murders him in front of the players pre-game in the locker room, the players become inspired/scared for their lives and deliver a victory to coach Singletary.
